# Computer Transfers Section of DisplaySwitcher

Computer Transfers is the DisplaySwitcher application's feature that allows you to easily share text, images, files, and folders between your computers that are running DisplaySwitcher.

You don't need to setup any networking, firewall, or permissions on your computers to do so.  Just run DisplaySwitcher on each one and simply transfer data between them.

Use the light blue rectangular area to see instructions and perform your transfers.  When the DisplaySwitcher window is active, you may then move your mouse over the rectangle to activate it.  It has a moving outline when active.

# Paste from Operating System Clipboard

When it is active, you may paste clipboard information into it.  Here are some examples of using the operating system's clipboard to obtain and then transfer information.

We use CTRL+C or right menu "copy" to get information from other applications.  We then use CTRL+V or right menu "paste" in DisplaySwitcher to move the data from the OS clipboard into this local DisplaySwitcher application.  If there are other connected client DisplaySwitcher applications running on your other computers, then DisplaySwitcher will automatically transfer a copy of the information to them.

# Remote Connect Client DisplaySwitcher Applications

Here is what a remote connected client DisplaySwitcher application looks like when it is receiving transfers from the source DisplaySwitcher application.

# Drag and Drop

Watch the video to see examples of dragging data from other applications into DisplaySwitcher.  DisplaySwitcher saves a copy of that data locally and then transmits a copy to any other DisplaySwitcher applications that are currently running.

You can drag text.

You can drag an image.  Notice that you can drag on top of the DisplaySwitcher OS Taskbar or Dock application icon to bring its window to front to help complete a drag.

Note that some operating systems will allow you to press the ESCAPE key to cancel an in progress drag.

You can drag a file.

You can drag a folder, and the folder can be empty, or contain any number of other files and folders.

Notice that when you copy an item, it will not overwrite an item of the same name or data.  A new copy is always created and is unique on this local DisplaySwitcher and the remote ones.

You may also drop another item while a previous one is still being imported and transferred.

# File Chooser


You may also use a File Chooser to select files and folders to import.

# Quick Share Text Input Text Area

There is also a Quick Share Text input text area.  This allows you to quickly type a note to be saved on this local DisplaySwitcher and transmitted to other connected DisplaySwitcher.

Just type into it, including newlines from ENTER key.  When you are done, just click outside it to save and transmit it.

# Make UI Smaller

After you learn how to use Computer Transfers, you no longer need access to the help documentation and videos, or the instructions listed in many areas.

You may use the make small buttons to shrink the UI by removing those help items you no longer need.

If you want to get back to a help video, just click the button again to make the UI big again and include all the help items.

# Second Make UI Smaller Button


There is a second make small make big button that will shrink down the computer transfer items so they don't take up so much space.

# Extract Computer Transfers


Now that you have the Computer Transfers on each of your computers running DisplaySwitcher, let's see how you get that information.

For the Computer Transfer you want, just click on it to copy it to your operating system's clipboard.  Then just paste it like you normally would.  You can do this for text, images, files, and folders, one at a time.

# Drag and Drop

You may also drag these items to other applications that accept drag and drop of those types.  See the video for examples of dragging Computer Transfers out of DisplaySwitcher to other operating system applications that accept drag and drop items.

# Delete Computer Transfers

When you no longer need a Computer Transfer item, you may delete it using the X in the upper left corner of its UI.

This will present a delete confirmation.

If you need to delete more Computer Transfers faster, you may go to Settings and turn off the delete confirmation.  Then you can delete quicker.

If you want to delete all your Computer Transfer all at once, you may use the Delete All button.  It will always show the delete confirmation, even if you turned off the delete confirmation for individual Computer Transfer deletes.

# Reorder

You may reorder your Computer Transfers by using the left and right arrows.

# Information

There is an information button on each Computer Transfer.

Use it to see which one of your computers the transfer came from, its type, size, uploaded date and time, and the full size of the text or image, or the full path to a file or folder.
