# Overview

Some Nebula Software application windows provide a "Search UI" feature.

- Click "Search UI" to activate it.
- Type the string you want to search for.
- Use the Previous and Next buttons to move to the next match.
- Click the "X" close button to deactivate search.

# What is Matched?

User interface components are search matched against textual items like:

- The text inside a Label, Button, Text Field, List, etc.
- The text inside a UI component's tooltip.
- Vertical text, like the tic mark labels on a Slider.
- Numbers in the Step buttons.
- Unseen internal text associated with the UI component, like its internal name, and match strings assigned to it that might be similar, like "find" for "Search".

# Features

- To prevent huge result sets, if there are "too many" matches, then the search feature will not trigger until you type more text to reduce the number of matches.
- As you type, any [Collapsible Panels](docId\:AxQj5Ff7LhhcA7mMcXEcI) will automatically expand if they were collapsed but contain a match.
- When you exit the search, Collapsible Panels that were auto expanded for you are collapsed back for you.
- If you manually collapse a panel while searching, then it stays collapsed for the rest of the search duration.
- If a Label has two lines of text, you can match it by using `\n` for the "newline", such as "Line One\nLine Two".
